Last year I filed Federal using TT24 for Mac and my return was rejected by IRS after a clean review prior to e-filing. Claim was "information on Form 8962 PTC Credit for Healthcare does not match what IRS has on file" Further review found that TT did not populate[or ask for] the "covered individuals" information on the 1095A that was filed with my return. I found the same issue this year in TT25 of Mac but I was able to enter the missing information manually to avoid it being rejected by IRS again this year. Additionally, TT25 did not inform me prior to filing that IRS has phased out issuing paper refund checks by mail. I received a CP53E informing me that I needed to create an ID.Me account if I wanted my refund. Bank account/routing info can be entered directly on the 1040 form but TT25 did not prompt for it. Please look into these issues.

@stevecripe57 I am sorry for your loss. A call to your bank branch, might be able to provide you at least a contact/phone number based ont he direct deposits. Did your wife, by any chance, have an IRS.gov login? It utilizes IDME. If she doesn't, You should create one. >IRS.gov >Create new account ( USE IDME LOGIN) >Create a username >Create a password Enter all pertinent information about your wife that is asked- IE; Social Security number, DOB, and a cellphone# and/or email address Use yours if no longer available. It might ask for a state/federal ID to be uploaded- if it does, then to that. It will send a code to the phone or the email provided. If this works... Once in the site. go to IRS TRANSCRIPTS- Specifically the Wages and Income transcripts for year 2025. This will show all income reported under her SS#. Even though she is deseased. If the IRS doesnt have the information you require. Step 2 Create a My SSA account on Social Security Administration. Same as above- Using IDME. If this is a form of payment from a pension/retirement... The 1099 SA should be in the Tax documents tab. I think the IRS will be your best outcome as all income is reported via SS#'s and available via the Transcripts. I hope everything turns out ok for you. PS. Companys that do not send out, income reporting forms to any person that recieved such income(s) is in IRS violation of late filing or non filing, and can be fined.

The IRA Information Worksheet is for record-keeping .
There will be no change to your return if you don't fill it out.
It is intended to track your non-deductible contributions.
It isn't required in your tax return.
However, it's crucial for avoiding double taxation on future withdrawals.

I received a K-1 that had the Final K-1 box checked. The packet included a Sales Schedule with 2 entries. They have different sales dates. Since this is a final K-1, turbotax will ask for the Sales Dates (Puchase and Sale) but only for one sales entry. How do I enter the 2nd one? Looking at the 1099-B there are many purchase dates for the same sale date. I assume this is some kind of grouping. How do I specify the purchase dates?

Does anyone know if TurboTax is actually working on a fix? I can't find anywhere to submit a ticker or error notification, and I don't know if they monitor this community feed and use the posts to trigger an alert and prioritize an update. We have a few weeks before needing to file, which should be plenty of time to fix this but ONLY IF they are actually working on it?

Thanks! This is helpful. However, I'm still having trouble figuring out where this income from plain ol' checks goes in TurboTax. Under "Let's check for other situations," I marked religious employment. Then Nonclergy (since he is not ordained yet). But then it asks how to calculate the Social Security and Medicare taxes and gives me 3 options, none of which apply: 1) Pay self-employment tax on this W-2 income 2) Social Security and Medicare taxes have already been withheld 3) This income is exempt from self-employment tax because I have an approved Form 4029 We didn't receive W2s (just checks), no taxes have been withheld of course, and we aren't exempt, either. I'm not sure how to get to the Schedule C to fill it out that way. What now?

I had another question pertaining to the Massachusetts return. On the Mass screen "taxable IRA/Keogh Distributions" it asks in the 1st box "other contributions previously taxed by Massachusetts" and the 2nd box asks "total distributions received in previous years". I have only taken one other distribution from this IRA before in 2022. Again, I converted the money received to a Roth IRA. So, when I filled out the 2nd box this year, I filled in the box the amount of that original distribution. Next year I will add that amount and this year's distribution to get a total in put that in the 2nd box. For the 1st box on the screen, I assume it is only amounts of NON DEDUCTIBLE contributions and would remain 0.00 since I was never taxed on a "contribution" to an IRA since I have been living in Massachusetts. Also going forward Box 1 would always be 0.0 in my case? I never contributed to an IRA while living in Massachusetts. Of course, this year and in 2022 I was and going to be taxed on a distribution Am I reading this correctly for filling in both boxes? Thanks.

Thank you, @PatriciaV I think that solves my problems on the 1041. I just went ahead and mailed the LLC 1065s due to the charitable gift form error. I am wondering though if when I go to efile the trust 1041 if that bug will impact that or if it was just affecting 1065s? Or if it has been fixed yet.

Yes, based on the figures you provided, here is a breakdown of how to handle those entries.
1. Calculating Gross Income Sourced at Beneficiary Level
Your calculation for the "Total" is almost right, but there's an important detail with the Foreign Source income to keep in mind.
Ordinary Dividends (2a): $11,976
Tax-Exempt Interest (14A): $7,822
Section 199A REIT Dividends (14I): $67
Total Gross Income: $19,865
The "Foreign Source" amount: You mentioned $5,350 as your foreign source income. You should verify this number against the Statement/Attachment that came with your K-1 (usually associated with Box 14, Code B).
If your statement explicitly says that $5,350 of your dividends are foreign-sourced, then your math is correct.
US Source Calculation: $19,865 (Total) - $5,350 (Foreign) = $14,515.
2. Deductions Allocated/Apportioned at Beneficiary Level
This screen is asking for expenses that the trust incurred which reduce the income being passed to you.
Yes, you should list those deductions. These expenses (Fiduciary fees, Attorney fees, etc.) are "apportioned" against the gross income to find your net foreign taxable income.
Total Deductions to enter: $5,862 in Box 11.
3. Reviewing the Other Boxes
Here is a quick check for the remaining items you mentioned:
Box 12 (AMT): Codes A and J represent your Alternative Minimum Tax adjustments. Ensure you enter these so your software can determine if you owe AMT (though most people don't hit the threshold these days).
Box 14, Code B ($407): This is the actual Foreign Tax Paid. This is the most important number for your credit. It makes sure you get a deduction (or a reduction) for taxes the trust has already paid to a foreign country.
Section 199A (REIT): When the software asks about the "Qualified Business Income" or "199A" screen, enter the $67. This gives you a 20% deduction on that specific slice of income. Listed in Box 14 with code I $67.

"My question remains why is data that I submit via the TurboTax EasyStep interview process not accurately reflected in the forms that TurboTax creates."
What form(s)? In your situation, there is usually no education form sent to the IRS. TurboTax "Worksheets" are not sent to the IRS.
