You don't include their income on your return. It would only go on their return if they are required to file one. To file a separate return for your dependent you need to set up a new account. Online is only good for one return per account. You can use the same email address for 5 accounts. They can probably use the Free Edition. You can start the Online Free Edition here, https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/free-edition.jsp You can still claim them on your return. Be sure on their return they check the box that says they can be claimed on someone else’s return. If their only income is W2 and under 14,600 they do not have to file a return except to get back any withholding taken out. If they got a 1099NEC for any amount they have to file a return. I entered all my tax info and TT said that I had a $25 penalty for underpayment of California taxes. Then it asked if I would like to enter more info to see if the penalty could be waived, I clicked Yes. It then asked for a my AGI by quarter (AGI is non-trivial so I skipped it). It asked for another number by quarter (income maybe?) that I didn't have either. Finally it asked for my withholding by quarter, that I had. After entering it TT said, sorry, you still own an underpayment penalty of $293. Whoa! So I went back, back, back, to the beginning and tried again. After entering the info again TT said, sorry, you still own an underpayment penalty of $464. I went back and clicked the box to let California calculate the penalty and bill me. Needless to say, I think there's something wrong here.
I've entered significant data into TurboTax Deluxe online, but now I want to transfer that date to the Windows Desktop version. How do I do that?
Well, I can only blame myself.  Looks like I didn't file.

Family situation During 2024, 3 kids under 13 First child was in school, had no child care cost  Second child had child care cost in pre-k Third child was very young, no child care cost since spouse stayed took a long leave from the job but still employed (so the max that would be used for the credit calculation is $6k) Eligibility question Spouse took a long leave from work and stayed home with the little one for a big part of the 2024 year. Based on the definition of who can take this credit, it seems that both spouses need to work or if any is not working then they need be looking for work.   So during the months that my spouse was at home with the third child, is the cost of the pre-k for the second child not eligible during those months?   Cost calculation Additionally, its not clear how to calculate the cost of the pre-k in 2024, because for the Sep 2023 - June 2024 pre-k school year, some was prepaid in 2023 for parts of 2024 (I chose the 10 month payment plan, but the 10 monthly payments start before school starts, and therefore you are actually prepaying (in 2023) for the last two months of the school year ending in 2024). So are the prepaid months able to be calculated in 2024? Also, my spouse was on leave during these months to be with the newborn third child, so is the cost of pre-k for the second child during these months not eligible? And then I chose a different payment plan for the 2024 - 2025 school year, and they took my money for the entire Sep 2024 - Jun 2025 school year in 2024. I understand that any prepayments for 2025 cannot be taken into account, so that part is easier to calculate for 2024 - it would be total cost for Sep 2024 - Jun 2025 divided by 10 months (i.e. Sep - Jun) * 4 months (i.e. Sep - Dec). However, my spouse was on leave for one of those months while home with the third child. So is the cost of pre-k during that month not elgibile?

Two trees fell on my house during a storm last year. I have a home office and was wondering if I could deduct the cost of that tree removal on the "expenses for the entire home" portion. They hit the roof and I had to get that repaired too.   If this is tax deductible, where would I enter it? Thanks

I file my taxes with Turbotax and got a confirmation email that my return was accepted on April 18th 2022.  The IRS is NOW holding my 2025 refund stating I never filed my 2022 taxes.  No problem, I'll fire up my old turbotax 2022 and get confirmation that I filed.  Guess what?  Turbotax 2022 says "You haven't e-filed your return yet."     What the actual heck.  Help
