I e-filed both Fed and Calif returns about a month ago with turbotax premier desktop; they were quickly accepted.  I had an aha moment a week after, and I realized I made a mistake on my 8606.  I owed Fed and Calif about $2k total additional.     I e-filed amended returns for both earlier today, and the Federal was rejected due to lack of an IP PIN.  I went to my turbotax program and entered the IP PIN that I obtained.  However, I don't see a way to "re-e-file."  I didn't see the "Fix my return" prompt in turbotax, so I went to "Federal > Other Tax Situations > Identity protection PIN" and entered my PIN.  But I am unable to actually e-file again.  When I click the "check e-file status," all I get is the status that the return was rejected.  My Calif amended return is still pending.   Please help!  I'd rather not have to mail an amended return. (I even clicked the mail return button, and turbotax wouldn't allow it since I had already e-filed the amended return...
For any month that has zero in all three columns, do not enter the zeros. Leave all three columns empty for that month.
Why is this happening and anyone have an idea how to work around it? Will I get rejected due to this?

Yes, the profits are taxable.  Your 1099-B - Proceeds from Broker Transactions are reported in the Investments & Savings Section of Income & Expenses.    Review the TurboTax article Where do I enter or import a 1099-B? for navigation instructions.   Because your stock was inherited, the cost basis is the fair market value of the shares at the time of the original owner's death, not when the original owner purchased it.    If you need help finding the cost basis, refer to the TurboTax article  How do I find a stock's cost basis?

You should discuss your concerns with your CPA, and let her explain it to you. It's normal to pay what you owe on the original return, and then make any adjustments on the amended return. The original return is always processed as if the amended return does not exist. The amended return is processed later. That's the way the system works. The IRS and the state do not take the amended return into consideration when processing the original return, even if they have already received the amended return. The refund on the amended return represents the difference between what you owed on the original return and the amount that you would have owed if the original return had been correct. The amended return is an adjustment to the original return. It's not a replacement for the original return. On your federal Form 1040-X the amount that you paid with the original return should be included on line 16. The state amended return would have a similar entry.

TurboTax provides the option to choose between business and personal accounts at login to accommodate users who may need to file different types of returns..   This flexibility ensures that users can easily switch between filing personal taxes and business taxes if needed. The business option is not activated, and you are not charged unless you use it to file a business return.   If you only need to file personal taxes, select the personal option at login and proceed with your filing.
