I wasn't nor did I ever mention Self Employment. That's besides the point. I said you were not required to report income UNDER $600. Obviously if you are getting income from multiple sources, or even one source for that matter, that adds up to +$600, then you report it. Period. Some people are so insecure or control hungry that they'll find a way to one up someone for something. I'm not in the mood today, and I'm not sure to argue with you or anything for that matter. So end of subject. Reply to someone else.

I received an overpayment in error and never got a bill or the magic number to repay electronically. I was out of state from Nov 17 until Dec 30 and I had a friend opening everything from SSA to see if it was my request for repayment. On 12/27 I had the SSA-1099 posted online and received a copy in the mail as well but don't know what date it came to my mailbox although my friend did call to say I had gotten a 1099 in the mail. How they get away with creating tax forms prior to December 31st is a mystery to me. I raced back to NC on 12/30, called the office to make an appointment while on the road and took a cashiers check from my bank into the office. I have a screen shot of of the green screen showing the repayment, a receipt from SSA, my ticket stub from my appointment, and a copy of the cleared check from my bank. They informed me that I would get a corrected 1099 but it would take a while. On Feb 5th or 6th I called and asked about my corrected 1099. They entered the request and said it would take a while. I called again the first week of April and was told they could see two requests in the system but could not explain why I have not gotten them. Told me to call back on April 9th if I hadn't gotten it. I did and they told me they would call back by the end of day after looking into why my request wasn't advancing. I never received that call. On April the 15th I filed an extension. I have followed up again with the local office on 05/21 who told me nothing they could do for me. The difference is I have to pay $400 and change without the form and forfeit my $1800 refund which is a net effect of me paying $2200 in taxes on money I returned to the SSA. Can anybody tell me they've successfully gotten a corrected 1099 from SSA? I spoke to the IRS today and there was nothing they could do to help me get the corrected form. I came to the conclusion that I should go ahead and file my return to keep from racking up interest on the $400 and file an amended return later if the heavens opened and the corrected form floated down surrounded by golden light and accompanied by a chorus of angels. The only other option is to fill it out as if I received the corrected form and take all my evidence in if I get audited. Sorry for the rant. Any advice, any thoughts?

Thank you @JotikaT2 , sorry for the delay. Not sure what's going on but I could not login to my account for a long time. I checked the thread you suggested and I saw I could submit my amended 2024 return after I received my 2025 1099-R in 2026. So I will do it next year. Thank you so much for your help.

Oh @Rrey413 ....thank you so much for your comment. "He wasn't in office then" and "do some research before publicly making a fool of your self " (it's yourself by the way).......SO Trump's tax plan was signed into LAW in 2017. Therefore...follow me here...we were still in his tax plan from 2020 - 2024 because those years come AFTER 2017....Biden didn't sign a new tax law my guy. We've literally been under his tax plan since it went into effect January 2018.

Yeeeeeah this isn’t on Trump. This has happened to me every year from 2020-2024. He wasn’t in office then. It’s a W4 issue. They are used to calculate how much tax you’d owe but it’s not a perfect science. The IRS should just tell you how much you owe and then you calculate how much you’ve paid then the difference tells you what’s what. At this point there is a section on your W4 that asks if you want you job so withhold anything more and I’m going to select that and just add like 150-200. Anything over will get refunded or applied to whatever outstanding balance I may have. do some research before publicly making a fool of your self

@ bradbundy55 wrote: Did my taxes with you four months ago and still haven’t seen my refund Must of because the payment came out of my bank account to pay you "Payment came out of bank account" Came out of bank account when--at the time of filing or several weeks later? If a debit happened several weeks later, it was likely this: If you chose to pay your TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund, and if the refund is delayed at the IRS, TurboTax would go ahead and debit your bank account, so is that what you meant? If so, only the IRS will know what all they are doing with your return. Before phoning them, see what is displayed at the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool. Is there any message there? https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund Or if that's not it, and by "payment came out of bank account", did you pay upfront at the time of filing with credit/debit card, and if nothing is showing at the IRS WMR. If so, then check to be sure the return was successfully filed. Log in and at the Tax Home, look to see if it shows as accepted, rejected, printed, started, ready to mail, or what? When using the IRS WMR tool: Be sure you enter the correct tax year, SSN, and filing status. Be sure you are using only the Federal refund amount. Do not include any state refund or any total refund or net refund (Fed and State) that TurboTax may have provided on a screen. Look at your actual Federal return to get the Federal refund amount to enter, i.e., your Form 1040, Line 35a.

Box 12 with code W should include both employer direct contributions and any contributions you make via payroll deduction. The program will add them back to your taxable income until you certify that you had qualifying HDHP insurance. This step should come in the W-2 interview if you run all the steps, and it can also be accessed in the HSA interview on the Deductions and Credits page. Make sure you answer all the questions and don't skip around. Once you certify that you did have a qualifying health plan (and which months), the contributions will be taken back out of your taxable income.
