I have been a loyal TurboTax user for the past eight years. However, my experience this year has been extremely disappointing. When the IRS sent my refund to your partner bank, there was no issue deducting their fees—even with supposed "suspicious activity." Yet, when it came to depositing the remaining funds into my account, my refund was withheld, causing significant inconvenience. After researching the situation, I was surprised to find that this has happened to many others as well. Unfortunately, this reflects very poorly on TurboTax. I will not be using your services moving forward. According to the information provided, it may take 10–12 weeks for the refund to be returned to the IRS, at which point I’ll be issued a paper check. That timeline is unacceptable. Direct deposit takes minutes—not months. The notion that your bank can immediately deduct funds while delaying the return of the remainder raises serious ethical concerns. I’m deeply disappointed with the level of customer service and the excessive fees, especially given the lack of transparency and accountability. I genuinely feel for all the individuals who have had similar experiences. One final question: Why is it acceptable for your bank to take its portion of my refund under the guise of "suspicious activity," but not acceptable for me to receive the rest of my refund?

There is no need to file an amended return if correcting your birthday does not affect your taxes. The birthday you entered originally is not transmitted to the IRS. But it should be corrected now.

Hello I just filed taxes for first time. I filed through turbotax free efile. I created a pin since I hadn't filed before. Turbotax did sign the form 540 on my california tax return, as well as federal tax return. However, there is no signature or date on the form 8453-ol on my state return. Should I be worried? It says to sign within 1 day but doesn't say if I need to resend it either electronically or by mail.

@Vanessa A, correct, I have been filing my federal and California tax returns each year, but I was not filing in non-resident states where I only had passive real estate losses from K-1 partnerships. I think that I understand conceptually what should happen, so now I need to figure out how to enter it through TurboTax for Oregon. For example, should I be entering values here, especially for the carryforward losses Would the carryforward losses be entered as suspended losses?

I am a minor and earned less than the standard deduction on a 1099. Why do I still owe taxes? My employer are my parents. As a minor, I should be exempt from FICA and Medicare/SS taxes, correct?

If you got a 2024 1099-R code "PJ" TurboTax will inform you that your 2023 tax return needs amending. That 1099-R has the information you need. @petersaddow

Go back to the W-2G and edit it to add the amount in box 1 to box 16, enter 0 in 17, and the name of the locality you are filing for in box 18. The go back through the filing steps.

Are you amending your New York return? Sounds like you are being asked to type in a reason why you are amending...... Are you using TurboTax Online? If you are using desktop, switch to Forms Mode (click on Forms in the upper right corner) and go to the form with the red exclamation mark and fixed the error there.

I got it to work, but your instructions were too sparse. There were many other steps I had to take to accomplish it, but at least I was able to get it to work.
