Hi. First- I am not an attorney, or CPA.  In my 3+ years of using this work around method, it has never been an issue for me.  Never audited, or questioned about handling the foreign tax reporting this way.  In my view, I think the IRS just cares about the bottom line- getting the correct amount of money.  Also- in my situation the foreign taxes are generally small in comparison to the overall tax liability.  I (and others) are making a good  faith effort to accurately report our data using industry recognized software to comply with the increasingly Byzantine IRS taxe code.

The 5-digit signature PIN (aka "self-select PIN") can be any 5 digits of your choice, except cannot be all zeros.  The screen will say that.  It's on a screen with today's date and your birth date.   A filer can even use a different one every year, if desired.    It's probably the 2024 AGI causing an issue.  If you are sure it was the correct AGI from your original return, then try using a 2024 AGI of 0.  It can't hurt to try.  Sometimes, the 2024 AGI didn't make it into the IRS efile database in time, especially if someone filed late in the year.   Otherwise, please post the exact rejection error code and message.

The senior deduction is automatically calculated by TurboTax based on the dates of birth you entered for each spouse.   The senior additional deduction is not included in the standard deduction but appears on line 37 of Schedule 1-A of your form 1040, with that amount flowing to line 13b of your form 1040.   In TurboTax Online, you can only view Schedule 1-A after registering and paying the TurboTax fee.   But you can preview your form 1040 and check line 13b of your form 1040 which includes the senior deduction among other deductions if applicable, such as the tip deduction, the overtime or the car loan interest deduction.   To preview your form 1040 in TurboTax Online, follow these steps:   Open your return In the left-hand column, locate Tax Tools, click on the drop-down arrow then click on Tools On the Tools Center page, click on View Tax Summary In the left-hand column, click on Preview my 1040 Your form 1040 will display. Scroll down to line 13b   and you should see the amount of this deduction included in this line.

Possibly, it depends on what the offset was for.   The Federal and State tax collection agencies are independent processes, but A State refund can be offset if you have outstanding State debts, or if the IRS places a levy against your State refund for unpaid federal taxes, The IRS will also give a notice, after the levy, offering you the opportunity to appeal the debt offset. "The Department of Treasury's Bureau of the Fiscal Service (BFS) issues IRS tax refunds.  Through the Treasury Offset Program, the IRS may reduce your refund and offset it to pay: Past-due child support; Federal agency nontax debts; State income tax obligations; or Certain unemployment compensation debts owed to a state (generally, these are debts for Compensation paid due to fraud, or Contributions owing to a state fund that weren't paid)." You can review the IRS article Reduced refund

I have no foreign income.   Here's one possibility.   Do you happen to have a 1099-DIV that has $1.00 in Box 7?   Such as from a mutual fund, ETF, stock, etc. as an example?   It could be a separate form or could be on a broker's combined form.
Form 5498 is for information only. You do not enter it in your tax return.   Please read this TurboTax Help article for more information.

No.   You can claim your medication as Medical expenses, but you do not need to list the details. You just enter a lump sum for Medical expenses and keep your receipts in your tax records.   You can claim all medical and dental bills, prescription drugs and health insurance premiums paid out-of-pocket as Medical Expenses in Schedule A - Itemized Deductions.   The IRS has an extensive list of what you can and can’t deduct.   For tax year 2025, Medical Expenses are subject to the 7.5% rule and you can only claim the excess over 7.5% of your Adjusted Gross Income.   Please note that Itemized Deductions will only benefit your taxes when they exceed your standard deduction.   For tax year 2025, standard deductions are: $31,500 for married couples whose filing status is “married filing jointly” and surviving spouses; $15,750 for singles and married couples whose filing status is “married filing separately”; and $23,625 for taxpayers whose filing status is “head of household.” The additional standard deduction for a blind taxpayer—i.e. a taxpayer whose vision is less than 20/200— and for a taxpayer who is age 65 or older at the end of the year is for each instance: $1,600 for married individuals; and $2,000 for singles and heads of household. Here's how to enter your medical expenses in TurboTax: Open or continue your return. Navigate to the Schedule A section: TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to Schedule A. TurboTax Desktop: Search for Schedule A and then select the Jump to link.
This isn't a new item...why is it taking so long for an update on something like this?
System is calculating a $1 foreign tax credit, why. I have no foreign income.
This 1099-G is for Paid Medical Leave which is non-taxable but I had taxes withheld. I can't efile because the system thinks I have a bad entry
