@random_mimi    OK...with the "Online" software....go to the left-side menu and access the Print Center.  Then save a copy of your tax return to a PDF....but choose the option to save the PDF with all the backup worksheets.  Open that large PDF file, and the Tax Payments Worksheet is in that PDF.   In that worksheet, in lines 10-to-19 you can see all of the various sources of withholding you may have entered into the software in one way or another.....look for a fishy number on any of the lines there. ______________________ Certainly, the withholding in lines 10 -to 17 "should add up to what is on the respective tax forms you have that fed into those totals.  IF not quite right, you need to investigate/edit the entries you made for the form-type listed were the withholding number doesn't make sense ___________________ ...BUT.... If you see any numbers on lines 18a-thru-18c that appears to be the $$ amount you are questioning, then those might be the problem.....and can be deleted by going in the interview to: >Federal >>Deductions & Credits (scroll down and expand to see all the menu of Deduction&Credits items items...if the following doesn't show up at first) >>>Estimates and Other Taxes Paid >>>> Income Taxes Paid scroll down to & expand >>>>Other Income Taxes paid in 2024 then  >>>>>Withholding Not already entered on a W-2 or 1099 and go in there to delete what amounts you may have entered there for some reason.

Your question is not clear.   What are you trying to do?   TurboTax never tells you that a refund has been "approved"---TT only tells you if an e-file has been "accepted" --which is not the same as approved.  Only the IRS can approve of a refund.   What are you trying to resend?   Are you trying to re-send an amended return?   For what tax year?   Did you e-file it?  Was the e-file rejected?

I am using TurboTax online. I was on the phone with TurboTax for probably a couple of hours trying to find it and then they took in offline for the remainder of that day and into the next and could not find it.  It seems that I do not have Forms Mode in TurboTax online. I can see in Preview my 1040 that the amount in question is in line 25c Other forms. However, it is not something that I can click through and I have checked every form trying to find it. Is TurboTax Desktop something that I can access using my TurboTax Online account? In other words, do I actually have to buy another product to find this? If TurboTax support couldn't find it after searching for about a day, I am not sure how buying another product will help me find it.

Mike - thanks for the reply.   Yes, I received the KY state PTET-CR statement attached to my KY LLC K-1, so I know exactly the number I need to enter. But for the life of me I can't figure out a way to get TurboTax let me enter it.   That's my main issue...last year I had the same structure and some option in the guided path on TurboTax eventually let me enter the pass through income tax payment the LLC has made for me.   But this year no matter what buttons I click I can't get there.   So the main question is just...how can I get TurboTax to accept the PTET-CR amount and thus reduce its calculation of my state tax liability.

Q. Do I need to have my job fix the W-2’s from previous years before filing to get the money back for those years? A. No.    It would be very difficult  for your employer to even try to do that for you.   You should file those past NC returns and attach a letter of explanation.

@random_mimi  See if this helps any:   We don't know what product you are using--Online TurboTax or desktop software.   The following info is for desktop software.    If you are using desktop TurboTax, you can go into Forms Mode and in the left column forms list choose the Tax Payments worksheet.   On that worksheet you will see your estimated tax payments (if any), and below that is a section called "Taxes Withheld From."  In that withholding section there are about 10 lines of possible sources of withholding.  On any entry there that has a figure, you can right-click on the figure and in the popup choose "Data Source" to hopefully see where that figure came from.    So that Tax Payments worksheet may give you a clue.

I checked every document entered and can't find any place that additional withholdings were entered. I reached out to TurboTax on Monday and they also searched that day and the next but could not find it. Now I am not sure what to do because the system is showing that I paid more tax than I did and therefore any refund/payment would be incorrect. I tried asking how to correct it before filing, since it is system generated, but haven't received a response yet.

@mnave22    You can Never have your state refund directed to a Federal tax due thru your tax filing....(nor can you ever have a Federal refund directed to pay State taxes due).   For such situations, you must either get the refund yourself and then pay it yourself...or just pay irrespective of when you get the refund.    Neither the Feds, nor the State will sit around waiting for some refund to be issued by the other party....especially since, sometimes, an expected refund never happens.   Whether you can get your state to change what you've done to be switched to a refund, is a discussion you would have to have with your own state's tax department.   Find your own state's income tax website and find the telephone numbers there to call to see what can be done.

Thanks for the reply.  We are expats living over seas and have been filing paper returns due to this issue.  We need to file additional information with our return each year as attachments (e.g., a letter from the Social Security Administration confirming an exemption from SSA tax).  Our accountant was able to file this letter as an attachment to our return and file electronically when they did our taxes years ago.  It would be helpful if in the future TurboTax was able to provide this as an option as it would be simpler and quicker for us to file electronically rather than via international post.

I'm ready to file after receiving an extension for TY 2024. I printed a copy for review and noticed something odd on my Massachusetts return: instead of the Federal Schedule D & E pages that are normally appended (both in years past and the copy I printed in April), it now has duplicate copies of the Massachusetts Schedule D & E pages. This seems like an error -- I'd hope this is only a print preview mistake, but is it going to affect e-filing as well?
When I follow the directions, it doesn't ask for the key and it won't load.
my taxes total is $1,642 for this year and i just received $964. im trying to collect the rest of my money but the apps and website didn’t works for me. i filled 4 times the documents but it useless
I too have used It's Deductible and TurboTax for many years.  I will now start looking at other software to replace TurboTax going forward.
Also, I did do a NC non resident return so I may have done it correctly but how so I know/ how do i check if that got my withholding back fully?
