I'm not sure what you are looking at. Michigan Schedule 1 Additions and Subtractions. Line 10 is "Income from U. S. government bonds and other U.S. obligations..." and is one of the subtractions from Federal Adjusted Gross Income. If you had taxable Social Security benefits included on your Federal tax return, you should see them on line 14 of Michigan Schedule 1, which is a subtraction from income. The amount of pension income that is subtracted from your AGI is calculated on Form 4884 and entered as a subtraction to income on Schedule 1, line 27.

We caught this error in 2025 while preparing the 2024 taxes. The withdrawal of excess contributions was made in March of 2025, so the tax was paid (via Vanguard) in 2025, Vanguard withdrew the $46 from the account.....I wish they had not done that. I was specifically told last year by Turbo Tax that the taxes withheld in 2025 goes on 2025's return, because they were paid in 2025. I am still confused what to enter on 2025's return. Should I enter all the 2025 1099 R information into 2024 including the tax, then I enter NO part of the 2025 1099R in 2025??? Can I amend 2024's after I submit 2025's return? Or do I need to do it before?

Intuit is free to define "effective tax rate" in TurboTax any way that they want, no matter how meaningless the result might be, since there is no legal definition of this phrase in the tax code. Intuit has chosen to define it as Form 1040 line 22 divided by line 11.

Yes, that is the correct Form to delete if you do not have startup expenses. In TurboTax, a red exclamation mark signifies an error or incomplete information on that specific form. @AGP11

How much other income does she have. Taxable scholarship, up to $15,750. does not actually get tax unless the student has other income.*
Q. Would you consider this (employer provided health care) taxable income?
A. No. But, I also wouldn't consider it Qualified Tuition and Related Expenses (QTRE).
I think the thing you should "hang your hat on" is "In past years, she was advised (by the University CPA service) to just use the amount she actually received from the University as Income, and not the number presented on the 1098-T."
*Scholarships are a hybrid between earned and unearned income. It is earned income for purposes of the $15,750 filing requirement (2025) and the dependent standard deduction calculation (earned income + $450). It is not earned income for the kiddie tax and other purposes (e.g. EIC). For grad students and post grad fellows, scholarship, stipend and fellowship income is earned income ("compensation") for IRA contributions.
Taxable scholarship goes on line 8r of Schedule 1, from which TT treats it as hybrid income.

When you start the 'Amend' process is your Refund Meter properly reflecting $0? If so, go to FORMS and look at the 1040X before adding your 1099-B to see if Column A shows the Adoption Credit properly. If it does, after entering the 1099-B info, check 1040X again. If the credit is now missing, step through the Adoption Credit section again to the end, and check 1040X again to see if the credit repopulated. If so, you are good to go to file your Amendment.
If not, let us know and we'll try to help.

It depends. TurboTax Business 2025 won’t create Schedule K-3 unless certain activations are met within the K-2 workflow. This situation comes up often: you fill out the K-2, but TurboTax doesn’t flag any “reportable foreign items” for the partners, so it leaves out the K-3. Here’s how to make sure K-3 is generated and each partner’s foreign tax appears on Form 1116, if a K-3 is needed. TurboTax Business only produces K‑3 when all of the following are true: A. You have foreign gross income entered in K‑2 Part II, Section 1: Foreign tax alone is not enough. TurboTax requires foreign-source income to be entered, even if it’s just passive dividends from mutual funds/ETFs. Enter the foreign dividends in Part II, Section 1. Use RIC as the country if the dividends came from mutual funds (TurboTax supports RIC as a “country”). B. You have foreign taxes paid entered in Column F of Part II This is where you enter the foreign tax withheld on dividends. C. You have Part III completed (Partner allocation section) TurboTax will not generate K‑3 unless the partner‑level allocations exist in Part III. D. You have not checked the Domestic Filing Exception If TurboTax thinks you qualify for the domestic filing exception, it suppresses K‑3. Make sure this box is unchecked in the K‑2/K‑3 “Applicability” section. E. You are in Forms Mode TurboTax Business often requires manual entry in Forms Mode for K‑2/K‑3 if they weren't captured in the TurboTax interview section.

To enter your overtime in TurboTax Online, follow these steps:
1. Go to the Income section and start or edit your W-2.
2. Enter your W-2 exactly as it appears; if overtime is in Box 14, enter the description and amount, then select Overtime from the category dropdown on the following screen.
If the overtime is not on your W-2, continue through the screens until you reach Let's check for other situations. Check the box for Overtime and select Continue. Enter the total of your qualified overtime. If 23578.69 is the premium only, enter $23,579. If it is the total, and you only earned time-and-a-half, divide that amount by 3 to get the premium. If any of that amount is double time, that portion would need to be divided by 4 to get the deductible premium amount.
To qualify for the overtime deduction, you must meet these requirements:
You must be a non-exempt employee who is eligible for overtime under federal law (FLSA).
Your filing status cannot be Married Filing Separately.
Your modified adjusted gross income must be below $150,000 or less ($300,000 for joint filers) to be eligible for the maximum deduction, If your income is over $150,000 ($300,000 for joint filers), then the deduction begins to reduce by $100 for each $1,000 of MAGI over the applicable threshold amount. Once your MAGI hits $275,000 ($550,000 for joint filers), the overtime deduction is not available.
The pay must be for hours worked over 40 in a single workweek, and only the overtime premium (the extra "half" in time-and-a-half pay) is qualified for the deduction.
