Hello my wife and I have just recently updated our W-4 forms with our employers because we did not have enough federal taken out since we owed on our recent tax return on our recent W-4 forms. We did not claim dependents on our updated forms even though we have one son to be clear, we just have our Social Security number name address and we signed the W-4 as the calculator on TurboTax and the Irs website indicated to do so. Do you have an idea of the amount of federal that would be debited from our paychecks each period or even a percentage? we are hoping that our take-home pay will not be drastically less since now we have opted to have more federal taken out. We did not select the last portion of additional federal on the W4. We just simply put our information and signed. Thanks!

Publication 15-T Federal Income Tax Withholding Methods For use in 2026 contains the actual tax tables. You can look up your pay to determine what amount will be deducted for Federal withholding. The tables are broken down by filing status and pay period (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly).
