Filing 8962 after 1040 and other forms have been filed

No, it is not late.  You filed 04/12, so three days early.   And you generally have three years to file an amendment, so you are early with the 1040-X.   And correct on the interest for the additional amount due on 1040-X.

If you go to IRS Direct Pay and select Balance Due - "HealthCare (Form 1040)" the IRS should not be confused.

If you just submitted 1040-X,

select Amended Return - "1040X"

When you e-FILe 1040-X, TurboTax submits the entire return mainly because it is not smart enough to know what is new or changed.

When you paper file 1040-X, attach only new or changed pages.

Thanks, FanFare, I thought about doing the paper but took the lazy man's way out and e-filed.  Hopefully the IRS doesn't hold it against me!

And I'd like to think that since I e-filed the 1040X it's in the IRS computer system and that is better than filing snail mail where someone needs to pick up that envelop, open it, type the info into the system adding my 8962 to the return.  That sounds like it would take forever whereas the 1040X being filed electronically should be processed much quicker.  Now that could be pure fantasy. 🙂
