Business Taxes Needed

I was given a 1099 for part of the year and W-2 for part of the year. I filed my personal taxes using both forms of income. I do not have my own company, but I was used as a contractor for part of the year. Each time I log into TurboTax, it asks if I am ready to file my business taxes.

Do I need to also file business taxes?

Business Taxes Needed

If you received a 1099 for part of the year because you were working as a contractor and not an employee at that time, then you should have reported the 1099 income on Schedule C Business Income and Expenses.

If you reported the 1099 income without using Schedule C, then you should amend your return to make that change.  Working as a contractor implies that you do have your own business providing your services for those who are paying you.
