Why is Turbotax charging me more than they said they would?

They are charging me $59 for filing my federal return and $49 for my state return. These are the only two charges showing up in my stated fees, yet it said the total deductions from my refund will be $152. Why is it not adding up?

40 for having the fee taken from the refund plus sales tax or 45 if you are from CA.

If you chose to pay the fees out of the Federal refund, you can remove that option prior to filing and avoid the $40 or $45 service fee by paying upfront with credit/debit card. Here's how to do it, depending on what state you live in:

California filers only can use this method (where it is bundled as "Premium Services") :
