TurboTax insists that I need a 1095a, but never asks me this question. "Was anyone covered by any of these plans in 2018?" What am I to do? Health Insurance tab gets walked through and tells me I am done, but won't let me file without submitting. Is there a way to force Turbotax to let me submit it?

If you received Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement, the information from this form needs to be entered into TurboTax, in the Health Insurance section.

If you purchased health insurance in 2016 through Healthcare.gov or your state’s Health Insurance Marketplace, you received a 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement.

  • It includes info on individuals covered, months covered and premium amounts

Please see the following TurboTax FAQ, "Where Do I Enter My Form 1095-A?":

Please note that there are 2 other 1095 forms - 1095-B and 1095-C.  You do not have to file either Form 1095-B or 1095-C with the IRS, or enter them into TurboTax - there is no filing requirement for these particular forms - just retain them for your records.

You can amend your 2016 return to include the information from the 1095-A form.  You may receive additional Premium Credit as a refund or you may owe an additional amount to the IRS.
