Question

I purchased a TurboTax Deluxe and when I tried to download it, TurboTax tricked me into clicking TurboTax Online. Now it wants to charge me $35 for depositing my return

How do I go back to TurboTax Deluxe with desktop, so that I don't get charged for depositing in my bank account?

There is not an extra fee to have your refund deposited into your bank account.  It sounds like you may have chosen to have your TurboTax fees withheld from your refund, and there is a charge for that.

In order to remove that selection, you will need to walk through the File section of TurboTax and pay your fees with a credit, debit, or prepaid card.

If you bought a desktop license you should have installed TurboTax on your machine and running the app from an icon on your desktop.  It does not run in a browser.  The “sign on to turbotax” buttons on the website will take you to the online version.

@guillermocontrerassa

If you are being charged an extra $35 fee in Online TurboTax, it sounds like you chose the  option to get your refund "Up to 5 days early."   That "Up to 5 days early" option has no extra charge if one signs up for a Credit Karma Money Spend account.    However, if one chooses that offer and has it sent to their own bank account rather than a Credit Karma account, then there is a $35 fee for that special offer.    You should be able to remove that by going back and declining the "Up to 5 days early" option and choosing a different refund option.   There is no fee to get a refund by regular direct deposit in the usual fashion; the fee of $35 is for the "Up to 5 days early" offer.

In addition, be aware that if you choose the option to pay your product fees out of your Federal or state refund, there is another $40 service fee ($45 for California filers.)

But as @ baldietax pointed out, if you purchased the desktop software and installed it on your computer, you shouldn't be in Online TurboTax at all.   You should be using the desktop product.   It is a program on your computer and does not use a browser to prepare the return.   Did you install it after you purchased it?  If you don't use it and stay in Online TurboTax, you're going to end up paying product fees twice and would have to seek a refund from customer support.

If you purchased desktop software, see this on how to download and install it:
