Saving Online Version of Turbotax 2024 to Desktop

Is there no way to save the online version of Turbotax 2024 to my desktop? I save a file to my laptop every year but the stores do not seem to carry the desktop version so I had to purchase the online version, and I'm a senior so this is making things more difficult for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No you can not save TurboTax online version to your desktop. However you could have purchased a desktop version instead of the online version from TurboTax and downloaded it to your computer. When you get ready to file your return you can then print a copy of your return to your desktop and save it on your computer.

Yes, there is a way to save the 2024 online tax data file to your computer to open with the 2024 desktop edtions.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen

Click on Tools

Click on Save your 2024 return to your computer

Yes you can save both the pdf file and the tax date file ending in .tax2024 to your computer and you should. But if you haven’t paid for the Online version yet you can switch to the Desktop program you used before. You just have to buy it as a download now instead of getting a CD.

You can move your Online file to the Desktop program and continue without paying for Online or needing to reenter your info. If you already paid for the Online version you can ask them for the Desktop program. And you can buy a lower version Desktop program. All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions.
