We contributed $34,500 to Michigan 529 education saving plans for our 3 kids.  When I entered this information I received a notification that only $10k is deductible. I understand this is the max deduction, so do I not need to enter the total contribution somewhere? Do just put the maximum $10k allowed in the worksheet?

There is no deduction allowed in your Federal return for 529 contributions.

Michigan gives you a deduction if you contribute to a state-sponsored 529 plan.

Since10K is the maximum deduction they are allowing for your contributions, there may not be any carryover for excess contributions.
