Tax Year Prior to 2020: Can't input tuition expense

If you are filing with TurboTax online, you might want to complete these steps before entering your Form 1098-T:

• Check your internet connection.  Try to log out and sign back in the program. 
• Clear your cache and sign back into the program.  To clear cache, click here: Cache
• You may also try a different browser.  

To enter your Form 1098-T in the program, here are the steps:

• Sign in to your account, select Pick up where you left off
• At the right upper corner, in the search box, type in "1098t" and Enter
• Select Jump to 1098t
• Follow prompts

If you have paid qualified education expenses and meet certain requirements, you may qualify for an education tax break including the American Opportunity Tax Credit AOTC, Lifetime Learning Credit or Tuition & Fees deduction. To see if you qualify, here are the links:

I had to find the Form 1098-T itself inside TurboTax and modify it myself.

Note that the IRS is also receiving a copy of your Form 1098-T on their end, make sure to prepare for substantiation to support the amounts you report or modify on your tax return if they question.

I am having the same problem.  The Program will not allow me to enter information in Box 1 of a 1098-T form.  Please fix your program.  A Lot of people have complained.

I have the Home and Business and I can't enter the Tuition from box 1 from form 1098-T

Go through the entire education interview until you reach a screen titled "Your Education Expenses Summary".  Click edit next to the student's name. That should take you to a screen “Here’s your Education Summary”. Click edit next to the section you want to change; tuition, in your case (click edit next to the school name).
