If your son qualifies as a dependent on your return, you would report the 1098-T on your return, unless the scholarships/grants exceed the qualified education expenses, then the student will report the 1098-T and all other educational expenses and scholarships/grants on the student’s tax return. If the student is required to file a return to for any reason, and qualifies to be claimed as dependent on your return, the student will need to indicate on their return, that they can be claimed by someone else.
