My daughter (born in April of 1995; full-time college student) earned about $10,700 in 2018 through her part-time job. How does she need to file her income? Thank you!

UPDATED FOR TAX YEAR 2019

She does not need to file a return (from the info provided in your question).

She would have to file a return in the following circumstances:

  • Her earned income (from her job) is above $12,200;
  • Any unearned income (interest, dividends, etc) is above $1,100;
  • Her income was from self-employment [she was issued a 1099-MISC and not a W-2] and is $400 or more; or
  • She wants to get back any taxes withheld.

If she does file a return (to get back any withholding), be sure she indicates that someone else (you) claimed her as a dependent.
