Scholarship Spit Between 2 tax years?
As an example, if you receive a $2000 scholarship for the 2024-2025 school year and half ($1000) is used in the fall semester 2024 and the other half ($1000) is used in the Spring Semester of the following year (2025), do you claim the full amount of the scholarship ($2000) on 2024 taxes or do you only claim $1000 used in 2024 then have to claim the remainder on 2025's taxes? I hope that makes sense.

You report what was paid in 2024, so if it paid in 2024, leave it as is on your Form 1098-T
If it posted in 2024, but will cover tuition paid in 2025, enter the 1098-T and continue through the interview.
You will get to a screen that asks if any of the scholarship was for a different year. Answer YES and enter the amount for 2025.
Be sure to account for this next year when you do your 2025 return.
