There is no box to report room and board expenses for college student.

Room and board are not qualified education expenses.    Unless you have an education savings account of some sort you cannot use room and board.

Because room and board (R&B) is only a qualified expense for a ESA / 529 distribution, TurboTax (TT) will not give you an entry screen unless you enter the 1099-Q before you enter the 1098-T. 

To get the screen to enter Room & Board, in the educational expenses section, answer yes when asked if you have book expenses.

its wonky that you have to enter 1099 Q before you can include room and board expenses
