Regarding taxable scholarships, many answers reference a "Taxable Scholarships and Fellowships" option under "Less Common Income" but the 9 options I see don't have that.

You enter your education expenses, including any scholarships, in the Education section under Deductions and Credits.  Not in the Less Common Income section of Wages and Income.

To enter, edit or delete Education Expenses -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Education
  • On Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T), click on the start or update button

Or enter education expenses in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to education expenses

Those are probably older posts. At one time you could get there from less common income.  But that has not been available for about 3 years.

The posts may be dated May or June 2019, but that's only the date it was transferred from the old forum.

Thank you @DoninGA for the detailed instructions and @Hal_Al historical context! I was especially perplexed because some answers dated 2019 stated things like "starting this year," but that really clears things up.
