My 1098-T reduced the refund despite being less than tuition

In my 1098-T form, the tuition is $28,355.52 while my scholarship is $5,590.00. Clearly, the scholarship does not exceed the tuition and shouldn't be treated as taxable income.

However, when I enter the said information, my federal refund would go down from $2,600 to $1,900.

Could anyone suggest what should I do?

Are you claimed as a dependent on someone else's return, like your parents?

Did you look at your 1040 and see if there is anything that stands out?

Go into your account

Click Tax tools on the bottom of the left side bar

Click Tools

Click "View Tax Summary" on the screen

Click "Preview my 1040" on the left side bar

Look at form 8863, and the schedules

That might have been the case, since I was required to upgrade to Deluxe to finish the 1040.

However, I never got a chance to check it because I cleared the application and redid from 0. This time, the refund remained 2k6 after I submit the 1098-T, so I think it might have been a glitch.
