So is the issue a turbo tax issue or what? How can I file my taxes when it’s preventing me from sending that form through?
How much did you pay with HR Block and were you able to receive a refund from turbo tax?
I believe it's a TT issue, not the IRS. I gave up & filed successfully through H&R Block online.
schoultz62 I ended up filing through H&R's online software system with absolutely no problems. Sure I had to retype all of the information, but it beats not k
I just went to H&R Blocks site and files with absolutely no problem at all.
@candie1971 how did you receive a refund from turbo tax? I was forced to pay the $40 for the deluxe package and it already exited my account. I want to use HR block rather than wait around but I can’t afford to spend anymore money to do my taxes.
@samirineou I had selected to pay the prep fees with my refund at the beginning, I didn't pay up front.
use a different tax software. It works on tax slayer and h&r block
Still unable to file taxes because of the QTP issue, message that "we can still work on taxes" but no solutions or estimates of a solution, other tax systems (HR Block) with non-qualified withdrawals are working so it is not the IRS, what can I do to get a refund and file with someone else?
The replies thus far have no official TT reponse. There are many suggestions on source of problem, as well as workarounds, but no solid official information.
Thus, TT (if you are reading):
1. Is this a TT issue or an IRS issue? Successful use of other (more than one) programs imply it is a TT issue.
2. If IRS issue, please point to, or provide, official IRS documentation with contains evidence they are working on the problem. I cannot find anything online.
3. If TT issue, please provide status and expected date of fix.
It looks to me that IRS Publication 970, updated on Jan 17, 2020, resolved the issue.
@cmnick I just went ahead and filed through H&R blocks software program and it went through just fine, absolutely no problems. My return was already accepted. There's obviously something wrong with TT's software.
Also running into this issue. I assume that it must be corrected before April 15, 2020, yes?
I cashed in my Texas prepaid tuition account after it was paid in full. It is not being used to pay for my daughters education as we are using the Texas Hazelwood act to pay her tuition. What rate will the money be taxed? The money I put into the program wasn't tax defered. Will I get a email from turbo tax when I can file?
If the 529 funds were used to cover qualified expenses can we simply eliminate the 1099-Q from the income section? It seemed to work for me but I haven't filed yet.
If you have nothing (zero) in Box 2 on the 1099-Q, then this problem should not be an issue for you.
