Foreign University Scholarship as Compensation

Yes, this needs to be reported on your return. To report.

  1. Go to Federal > Wages & Income.
  2. Scroll to the bottom to Less Common Income.
  3. Select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C > Start.
  4. Choose Other reportable income and click Yes.
  5. Description: Enter "Foreign Research Scholarship/Stipend" and the amount.
