Yes, this needs to be reported on your return. To report.
- Go to Federal > Wages & Income.
- Scroll to the bottom to Less Common Income.
- Select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C > Start.
- Choose Other reportable income and click Yes.
- Description: Enter "Foreign Research Scholarship/Stipend" and the amount.
