I bought a house in mid 2019. The original lender sold the loan to a servicer so I got 2 1098 forms. The form from the original lender keeps telling me it needs to be reviewed and when I go on it shows my points I entered but it doesn't tell me to do anything. I got live help and the lady told me that was unusual. After a bunch of editing she eventually told me to delete the first 1098 and just leave the one from the servicer. She told me that it is fine to do that because I chose standard deduction and not itemized. I just wanted to get a second opinion before I submit just to be sure everything is ok and I don't get in trouble with the IRS.

If you are itemizing on your state, you will need that other 1098 form. Otherwise, standard everywhere, it would not matter. Please check to see if that would make a difference on your state return.
