I am using Turbo tax deluxe CD. But it appears that the school recorded the grant as income in 1098T Box 1 and listed it again in Box 5. So, I need to make a change to what I had entered. However, I am unable to go back and change my 1098T entries. If I use search it just goes back to a screen where there is no way to make a change to box 1. Any help please?

If you think your 1098-T is incorrect, you will want the school to issue a corrected form. Copies of these forms go to the IRS, so you want what you are entering to match what the IRS receives.
Additionally, box 1 of your 1098-T is not income but tuition paid/received by the school. Box 5 is the amount of grants and scholarships received by the student.
I did a search elsewhere and it says that if the 1098T you got has the wrong amount to leave Box 1 blank and then click below the link where it asks "if this is not what you paid the school enter the amount here". I was able to enter the right amount.
It appears in Box 1 the school listed the tuition and then subtracted the grant they provided and the loans even though IRS rules seems to suggest that the grant amount should not be subtracted.
You can use that link and enter the amount paid, be sure you then report the grant you received on the screens that follow.
Below is an IRS link that covers some of this:
I did. To complicate things more the school included the 2020 Spring (Jan-May) term tuition and grant as well in Box 1 because their bill came in Dec. and was due in Jan which was when I paid. For the tax I just included the tuition for the Fall 2019 term and reported the grant for that term only.
You reported that correctly.
Any items paid in 2019 listed on the 1098-T form should be picked up as reported.
These forms are sent to the IRS as well so you want to make sure they match your tax return.
I rechecked with the school. It appears Box 1 included all of the Fall term tuition plus the grant amount from the Spring term since it had come through in Dec. along with the Spring term bill. I decided to report exactly as stated in the 1098T as it did not affect my AOTC and 529 withdrawal. Thanks to all your responses. It was really helpful
