Question about my 1098-T

I graduated in August of 2016.  My 2016 1098-T reflects the amount I received for spring 2016 scholarship and grants, but does not include the amount billed for the spring 2016 semester.  According to my school, that amount was billed in December of 2015 and was in included in 2015's 1098-T.  

Box 2 is blank, but am I able to list the amount that was actually paid to my school via school loans for the spring 2016 semester in the dropdown box provided?  It may have been billed in December of 2015, but was not paid until January of 2016.

Please let me know.

Question about my 1098-T

You should not have claimed what was billed in 2015, only what you paid, so yes, you can now use the dollar amount of what was billed, but not yet paid for the Spring classes as what you paid in 2016.


If tuition was Billed in one year, (2015) and you paid it in 2016, you can use that dollar amount for 2016
