Qualified education expenses

I went to a community college in August 2010, I got my AA there in May 2013 then transferred to a college in August same year 2013, in May 2016 I got my BA. My parents claimed me as dependent last years and many years before so this year is my first year filing my tax as independent, am I still qualified to claim American Opportunity Tax Credit?

As long as your parents did not claim the credit for four years already, you can still be eligible.  Please follow this link for more information.  https://www.irs.gov/individuals/aotc
