If I was a full time student 1/2 the year, paid for by grants/scholarships/loans, & worked fulltime for 2nd 1/2 living on own, would I be considered as supporting myself?

Did you live on your own the first half of the year as well? If you supported yourself for 6 months or more than you would be considered as supporting yourself. Just make sure that nobody else is planning on claiming you as a dependent on their taxes.
