I haven't received a 1098-T from my school, but I received a 1098-E from the U.S.Dept of Ed.

Do I still need the 1098-T to do my taxes

Yes, you will still need Form 1098-T to do your taxes. The forms provide different information but are both related to education.

Form 1098-T is a tuition statement sent by an educational institution that you attended and reports the amount of qualified education expenses paid during the tax year.

Form 1098-E is a statement that is sent from a lender that reports the amount of student loan interest you paid during the tax year.
