Do I put what's listed in box 5 of my 1098-T under the "Did You Receive a Scholarship or Grant in 2017?" question?

I completed the "Type in the info from your 1098-T" step and entered amounts for box 2 and box 5 of my 1098-T. Then one of the questions was "Did You Receive a Scholarship or Grant in 2017?", which I am assuming it's asking for the amount in box 5 under "Scholarships and Grants" on my 1098-T.

No. It's asking for grants/scholarships not already reported on the 1098-T you entered.

I asked a virtual assistant for TT on my mobile app and she said I had it right in what I had entered from box 5. One of the options says "Scholarships/Grants on a 1098 T", and that's what I had entered is what was reported on box 5 (Scholarships and Grants) on my 1098-T, so she said I was right. Thanks for responding!

Yes, the presentation on mobile devices is quite different from how it looks on a desktop computer. So if it specifically asked for schoarhips/grants on the 1098-T, you'd enter the amount in box 5.
