Why is the education institution ID number qualifying for the American opportunity credit not recognized? My 1098-T form provided the "FILER'S federal identification no." (which is the same as the EIN). So I entered that, verified I've entered it correctly, and even uploaded the 1098-T to "Documents" in TurboTax.
I've verified (by looking at the last 3 1098-T's) that I am using the correct EIN/FID.

I've found the solution!
I believe this is a genuine technical error on TurboTax. I was able to get my AOTC when I revised my form in the "Federal Review" stage and was able to enter my EIN after the 3rd time I "reviewed" the form. Then I was prompted to "Relaunch my Deduction Calculator" (or something of that nature) and then my AOTC appeared affective.
1. People should not have to wait until the Federal Review to enter their EIN for their college
2. It should not have taken a 3rd pass on the Federal Review to be prompted to finally enter the EIN. I think it'd be logical for that to be caught on the 1st pass of "Review"
3. Please look into this issue as there are others who have ran into this exact issue, like in this post.
