Why is the education institution ID number qualifying for the American opportunity credit not recognized? I have tried repeatedly to put the EIN; I have tried uploading my 1098-T and imputing it manually, it gives me the same error that the EIN is not imputed.

An EIN number has this format XX-XXXXXXX.
If the EIN number on your 1098-T does not have a total of nine numbers it is not a valid EIN and it will be rejected by TurboTax. If the EIN is incorrect contact your education institution to obtain the correct EIN
You may enter the EIN into TurboTax with or without the "-".
It is correct, and I have verified it as well.
Here are the most likely reasons and solutions for the "fix error" message on the 1098-T form in the Education area of TurboTax Online.
If there are error messages to fix your 1098-T form and you have "copied and pasted" to enter the employer EIN, it might have spaces or other invisible formatting characters that are causing the errors. Please type it in manually and be sure there are no extra spaces before the entries or after the entries.
If you are using TurboTax Online, the most likely reason for buttons that don't work or not being able to enter information is that something in the web browser is not displaying the page properly. The easiest way around this is to simply use a different web browser. You can select from Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, and more. If you need to install another browser, be sure to go to the trusted home site for the software, for security reasons. Or you can clear the cache and cookies in your current browser. If you are using the Turbo Mobile App, then try opening Turbo Tax in the browser window on your phone. It will use the same login information but may display the page better.
I received the same error and what resolved the issue was I deleted the student and re added all the information. Must have been corrupt data or a flag was set somewhere I could not see.
That usually works best. Not just with 1098T information but with alot of input from various sources like W2's, 1099's, etc.
Usually, the best option in these scenarios is to delete the original input data, clear cache and cookies and reenter the information again.
