Education fees for online school

I paid for my final semester at US Career Institute (a for-profit education) that I can study/send in assignments from home.  Can I deduct the $1,989.00 I paid for this education and where do I input it?

Education fees for online school

You can deduct tuition, regardless if the school is online or not - as long as the school is a qualified school.  A qualified school is any college, university, or other post-secondary educational institution eligible to participate in a student aid program Administered by the U.S. Department of Education.

You can check online, using U.S. Federal Student Aid link to check if your university is a qualified educational institution for tax education purposes.

Data entry:

  1. Federal Taxes
  2. Deductions and Credits
  3. Education
  4. Expenses and Scholarships (Form 1098-T)
