Education expenses

I am a full time student that is being claimed as a dependent. My parents have paid for my tuition, but I paid for materials and books. Is there a way to include my expenses even though I cannot use the 1098-T form?

Education expenses

Unfortunately, you cannot separate the books and materials expenses from the tuition expenses.

If your parents claim you as a dependent, they have to claim your qualified education expenses (including books and materials for the American Opportunity Credit).

Not what I wanted to hear since books are not near as cheap as they used to be. I do appreciate your help!
