Most likely it does. But it depends on what you call "medical school". If you are enrolled in one of those vocational courses to become a CNA in 9 months, then that very well could qualify.
- The school needs to be "Accredited" If it's eligible for federal aid funds (such as FAFSA) from the US Dept of Ed. then it's accredted.
- You must be enrolled as a full time student for any one semester that started during the tax year.
- You must be enrolled in a course of study that will lead to a degree or credentialed certification.
So something like one of those vocational schools would most likely lead to a "credentialed certification" and could qualify you for the education deductions. But do understand now that the "tuition and fees" deduction expired in 2017 and congress did not renew it for 2018 and beyond. So that's one deduction that will not be available to you. There's still other possible education credits though.
