Can I deduct college course fees that are separate from tuition? for example, biology course fee?

Child has additional fees for classes at university.  these are additional fees that are not included in "tuition."  Can these fees be deducted and if so, where do I put them?

Yes, fees that are necessary for your son's enrollment or attendance at the college are qualified education expenses. You can add them to tuition paid if they are not reported on form 1098-T. You can do this by modifying the amount reported in box 1 of form 1098-T.

Under box 1, on the 1098-T screen is a blue link: What if this is not what (student name) paid to this school? Click on that and you will be given a chance to enter what was actually paid in 2018 (see attached screenshot).
