My daughter paid tuition in December 2022 for semester that begun in Jan. 2023.
If I enter the tuition payment in her 2022 tax return, she will be eligible for a Lifetime Learning credit in 2022.
However, she did not receive a 1098-T from the school.
Any opinions on this? Thank you.

You will receive the 1098-T in 2023, but because you have to claim the education credits in the year the expenses are paid, you will have to adjust the amounts next year if you claim the Lifelong Learning Credit in 2022.

To clarify, she can claim the tuition she paid in 2022, then when she receives the 1098-T in 2023 we will have to adjust the 1098-T amount on the 2023 Tax Return to reflect how much was truly paid in 2023?
This is applicable in order to claim the Lifelong Learning Credit in 2022. Otherwise, she will not be able to claim the tuition paid in 2022 towards a Lifetime Credit next year, because the credit applies to the year it actually was paid.
I understand, I'll just have to review how to adjust next year.
Thank you so much, I truly appreciate your reply.

After answering no to the question, Did you get a 1098-T, you will be asked if you qualify for an exception. Answer yes and the interview will allow you to enter your expenses.
