1098e

We claim Our fulltime grad school student daughter as dependent. She gets a 1098e every year. The loans are in her name only. Can we claim the 1098e form? If so does she still need to claim it too?

we also help pay out of pocket tuition and supplies.

Unfortunately you can’t claim that deduction because you are not liable for the loan unless you are a co-signer.  And she can’t deduct it because she is a dependent.

A dependent cannot claim the student loan interest. See Pub 970 pg. 34.
