Do I need to pay estimated taxes? How much and when? Is there software that I can start using to make this super easy for me? When it's tax time again in April of 2018, half my year will be as a regular employee but the other half will be as a "self-employed" contractor (with an LLC) -- will Turbo Tax for Home and Business be sufficient?
Thanks!

You can use any of the downloaded versions ... upgrading to the H & B version is an option not a requirement.
If
you are acting as your own bookkeeper and tax preparer you need to get educated
....
If you have net self
employment income of $400 or more you have to file a schedule C in your
personal 1040 return for self employment business income. You may get a 1099-Misc for some of your
income but you need to report all your income. So you need to keep your
own good records. Here is some reading
