Why does TT use the wrong amounts for Schedule H?

Incorrect limit used on Schedule H, Line 20. Per instructions, limit is $7K. Your form used $8K. Also, software does not ask for amount of state UI paid late, for which a 90% credit is available. Together, these MISTAKES cost me money. And your "guarantee" does not actually guarantee that your software and calculations are accurate.

If you'd like, we can look at your return and see exactly what you see to  help come to a resolution. The return will be scrubbed and won't include any of your personal details.

If you're using TurboTax Online:

Once you're logged in to your account,

- on the left hand panel, click on Tax Tools and then choose Tools

- on the pop up window, select Share my file with Agent

- you'll see a message saying you'll give us a copy of your tax return. Your personal information will be changed so we can't see any private information.

- click okay and you'll get another message with a token

If you're using TurboTax Desktop:

  • Click on Online in the top menu of TurboTax Desktop for Windows
  • Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'
  • Write down or send an image of your token number and state then place in this issue.
  • We can then review your exact scenario for a solution

Please reply to this message with your token so that we can further assist you. Let us know all the states, if any, that are included on the return.

Why does TT use the wrong amounts for Schedule H?

The TT response only make this worse.  You offer to have me send my return to an Agent by using the Tax Tools button on the left.  There is NO such button on TT Online.  Moreover, this is not an issue what the data in my return.  Rather, the IRS instructions specifically say to use $7,000 for the federal limit, yet the return, which I can only see after the 1040X was filed and accepted, used the state limit of $8,000.  In addition, the Instructions direct taxpayers to use a worksheet to calculate the credit for late-filed UI contributions.  Your software does not even ask about late-filed, as if late-filed contributions are irrelevant.  These mistakes again have ZERO to do with my situation and everything to do with your tax software ignoring the very simple and clear Instructions to Form H.  Thanks for the bogus offer to help by clicking on a link that does not exist.  Glad to see the "guarantee" is all marketing B.S.
