Where do I find Statement A? This came up as I was completing the K1 form.

"Where do I find Statement A?"

That would be qualified business income (QBI) pass-through reporting (Section 199A).

Basically, you should have received a supplemental statement along with your K-1 (or some sort of instructions) to guide you on how to report the figure on your K-1 on your personal income tax return.

If you did not receive any such statement or instructions, you should contact the responsible party (i.e., the party who is responsible for preparing the entity's income tax return).

No such statement was received. The issuing company says "this is an old bug in turbotax and only shows up in turbotax."

What now?

The issuing company uses TurboTax?

There is not much you can do if the company will not issue the statement.

Hi, I had a similar issue.  I received Statement A with my K-1 and after some effort, trial and error, I successfully entered the info in TTax.

At first, I didn't get all the info in the right places and got this error after running "Smart Check"

"Box 20 code Z has been selected but no Section 199A income has been entered on Statement A."

I looked for Statement A in TTax but could not find it.  I went back through the guided K-1 input section and after I checked the right boxes and entered the right numbers, it worked.  On the page where it says

"We need some information about your 199A income"

I put a check marks on

[Business name] has business income (loss)

[Business name] has UBIA of qualified property

And entered the info from my K-1 Statement A

No more errors.

I hope this helps.

I think the phrasing of the TTax error is misleading "...no Section 199A income has been entered on Statement A" makes me think there must be a Statement A in TTax.  maybe it could say something like this "

"Box 20 code Z has been selected but no Section 199A income has been entered from your K-1 Statement A."

Other than that, I think correct to say that the K-1 needs to have Statement A if it has Box 20 Z selected for 199A income, and TurboTax creators could update the Smart Check error text to avoid some confusion.

My K-1 Section 199A Information has a rental income loss and an Unadjusted Basis of Assets. How do I figure what amount to enter in TTax Section 199A Information amount? Thanks

When you reach the screen for Section 199A in your K-1 entry, you must complete with the information provided to you with the K-1.  Usually you have a statement that accompanies the K-1 to  provide the information to enter for your tax return.  If is is Form 1065, it will be in Box 20, if Form 1120, it will be in Box 17.  I used 1065-K1 for the image below.

Thank you. I placed my gratefulness in the wrong subnittal. Statement A was batty and your detailed instructions to return to the guided k1 input section was invaluable. Thank you.

Thank you!  One other thing I'll flag for people whose K-1s are not for business income, I was hesitant to check that box in the 199A section, since my K-1 has "rental income (loss)" checked, which did not appear to be an option.  Once you check the "business income (loss)" box, all of the other options on the K-1 199A section show up.

I have amount on box 20Z but there is no Statement A on the Schedule K1. I contacted the ET for Statement A/Section 199A and they say they don't have it. What should i put here?

Any help is appreciated.

Truly confusing language from TurboTax. The k-1 has sub-categories for many of the Part III items, A being the first subcategory, and meaning different things for different questions. Question 20, for instance, has space for a series of responses, the first of which is labelled "A," with the amount to the right of it. For a list of five or more entries, probably including your "Z", there is a statement with codes, perhaps including "20Z1 Section 199A Publicly Traded Partnership (PTP) Income" or something like that, with an amount in the right hand column. I think that would be the number you need. I suspect that TurboTax is just lazy about rewriting its very awkward language.

It depends. All of the information that is needed on this form should be listed on a supplementary disclosure form that came with your K-1.
