I created my W2 (I'm the only employee) in Turbo Tax 'Inuit Quick Employer Forms' and the efile option isn't highlighted or clickable. It says 'efile will be enabled soon.' When? Like in a few years or before the end of the month?

@Plarka , from your post "I'm the only employee", and you are preparing your own "salary statement", I wonder if it is the right thing to do. Because the form to use depends on what type of entity you work for. So please can you tell a little bit about the entity / company you work for ( e.g. sole proprietor, S-Corp, partnership, LLC, C-corp. etc. etc.)?
If you are using the desktop version of TurboTax , especially higher level like Home & Business, you should already have access to "employee/ contractor forms like W-2, 1099-NEC, 1099-MISC etc.
I will circle back once I hear from you.
I'm having a similar issue. I have an S-corp and I'm the sole employee. Last year I used TT Business and was able to file W-2 and W-3 forms electronically. This year it doesn't seem to allow it. I have desktop version.
@KC Kirk , @Plarka , I do not have 2025 TurboTax Business but do have the 2024 version. So I went back and looked at the issue you are reporting -- not able to e-file the W-2/W-3. My version of 2024 says that while you can prepare and print the forms , you cannot e-file these from the desktop version of the product. I would suspect that this policy probably continues for the 2025 desktop version of TurboTax Business.
It suggests using the on-line version of the product.
Is there more I can do for you ?
I believe the Desktop Business program on Windows is the same as the personal Home & Buisness version. You can do them 2 ways, either Online using QEF Quick Employer Forms or on your Desktop. If you pick Create forms on Desktop you can only print and mail them.
And you can only install the Business program on a Windows Desktop computer. There is no online version unless you use the Online Live Service version . The Online Business versions are a lot more expensive. The Online Business is $739 for Live Assisted Business and $1,749 for Live Full Service Business.
Frustrating. I did this last year, used desktop version, efiled the W-3 and 1096, no problem. This year, same situation, but TT says I can't efile if I'm not using the online version. Sorry, but I'd rather not share my financial info with a big company that's doubtless a target for hackers.
