Turbotax does not give me an option to fill out Schedule C for 1099-NEC, but doesn't let me proceed without it. It only give me an option to fill Box 1-7 with $ amounts.

turbotax requires me to complete Schedule C for 1099-NEC before submitting the tax form electronically. However, turbotax doesn't give me that option even though I follow the instruction exactly it says. 1099-NEC only gives me "Who paid you?", their EIN then Box 1 through 7 where you submit numerical numbers only. No link to the Schedule C.

The Form 1099-NEC must be completed by choosing it after your start your self-employment activity. You can enter your cash sales without using the Form 1099-NEC if you choose.

The income can be entered directly, without using the 1099-NEC . The following steps will help.

  1. Sign into your TurboTax account > Select Wages & Income
  2. Scroll to Self-Employment Income and Expenses > Edit/Add
  3. Select Add/Edit beside the self-employment activity
  4. Enter your Additional Income receipts for 2020 (see image below)
  5. Retain your Form 1099-NEC with your files.

Delete the Form 1099-NEC you previously entered. The IRS does not required the actual form entry, only that all income is included in your return.

I’ve tried it all and it still won’t accept it. I can push through and submit my taxes but I didn’t know if that would mess anything up.

The Form 1099-NEC can be removed due to this experience. You can enter your cash sales without using the Form 1099-NEC if you choose.  Delete the form and then follow the steps below to enter it as a 'cash' payment not reported on any form.

The IRS does not required the actual form entry, only that all income is included in your return. The screen image is showing the selection to add cash income without using the 1099-NEC. Keep the document with your tax records.
