Trust tax return will have to be printed and filed on paper?

Question 1: I understand that TurboTax Business doesn’t import “consolidated 1099” documents from brokers. I’ll have two consolidated 1099 documents with each having about 30 pages of various 1099s (1099-INT, 1099-DIV, etc.) Seems to me that means those consolidated 1099 documents will have to be printed and attached to a printed 1041 and filed the old-fashioned way through the US Mail?

Question 2: It looks like charitable contributions from trust principle would be recorded on form 1041-A. Does the mere existence of Form 1041-A require that the 1041 and supporting 1041-A would have to be filed as a paper tax return?

.....if there’s any way to get Turbotax Business for Windows to import the data (even if manually entered) from my (long, complex) brokerage consolidated 1099 documents, I might be willing to undertake that effort if it would pay off with an e-filed return rather than file on paper.

Unfortunately, that is not a possibility. TurboTax Business has limited (very limited) support for importing data. In fact, importing is basically limited to QuickBooks.

However, since you need to attach a signed Form 8453-FE (that was signed and scanned into your computer) in order to e-file, and TurboTax Business allows that form to be uploaded, you can attach another PDF to the Form 8453-FE. I have absolutely no idea what occurs at the IRS level with this scenario, but it is possible to upload that (combined) PDF and then e-file.

The short answer is that your Form 1041 package will have to be printed and mailed. You will send the 1041-A to the IRS address in Ogden, Utah.

Trust tax return will have to be printed and filed on paper?

Thanks for your reply and of course that’s the answer I anticipated. If you don’t mind, I’d like to press a little more on Question 1.

I’m very good with computers and data processing and if there’s any way to get Turbotax Business for Windows to import the data (even if manually entered) from my (long, complex) brokerage consolidated 1099 documents, I might be willing to undertake that effort if it would pay off with an e-filed return rather than file on paper. Would an e-filed trust 1041 return:  a) even be possible with Turbotax Businees?, and if yes, then b) would such a return require manual processing by the IRS? Would the IRS still need to verify the return using the Adobe PDF format of the consolidated 1099s from the brokers, thus making the whole effort seemingly pointless?

The motivation here is that I might choose to skip the charitable tax deductions (form 1041-A in question 2 above) IF it would allow me to e-file and quickly know that the IRS had processed the return.
