I recently did my taxes on the free addition and did not file my schedule C. Even though I didn't make a profit or any income from the business this year I wanted to do it for tax deductions on my equipment. But the thing is I cant find how to file on the free addition. Help! much appreciated.

You cannot file a Schedule C on the Free Edition of TurboTax. You need to upgrade to the Self-Employed version of TurboTax to have the additional schedules needed for filing your own business income and expenses.

Turbotax won't let me upgrade for some reason, every time i click on self employed version to upgrade it takes me to my tax return home and does nothing. any help there on how to actually upgrade to the paid version
If you are filing with TurboTax online, let's do these:
If you are self-employed and need to upgrade to the self-employed online edition, here are the steps:
cleared my cache and everything and upgrade still doesnt pop up this is what my home screen looks like
It appears that you already have filed your return and it has been accepted which means you need to file an amended return (Form 1040X).
Amended returns do not “catch up” to your original return and replace them; they are processed as two separate returns. Amended returns have to be printed and filed by mail. It can take the IRS up to 12 weeks or longer to process them.
If you are due a larger refund than on your original return, your amended return should only show the difference and you will receive a separate check for it.
If you owe money on your amended return, it will show only the new amount owed, you will have to mail a check with the return.
You can check the status of your amended return by clicking here: https://www.irs.gov/filing/individuals/amended-returns-form-1040-x-/wheres-my-amended-return-1
