Can I change from Business to Hobbyist?

I started a home business selling Jamberry in 2015.  Went full speed, booking events, doing home parties...  I bought inventory for the events and still have some of it.  I filed as a home business for tax season 2015.
Due to some unforeseen events, I backed off of selling Jamberry by mid 2016.  I don't think I can file as a business for 2016 since I didn't actively work it as a business after that time, or can I?  I did have one big wedding event that I did in January 2016, and a handful of parties...enough to show an income of $1,089.89.  I wasn't sure how I needed to file this year...please help!
Thank You,
Beth

If you continue to operate the business with a profit motive, but backed off due to unforeseen circumstances, you can continue to treat this as a business, rather than a hobby, click here for more information.

To convert your business to a hobby loss your report gross income from the hobby on line 21 Form 1040 (Miscellaneous income), and the related expenses as an itemized deduction.

So, how are my business losses and inventory from 2015 that had to be carried over handled, if I go hobbyist in 2016?
