Small Business - Paying an individual to clean my office.

I own a business, and each month I hired a friend of mine to come into my office and clean up the place.

I pay her with my company check, and take it as a deduction on the business taxes.

I, however, have not provided her with a 1099, and I have been doing some reading which suggests that I would need to do so.

She does not have any jobs, and does this as a means for extra money. So she is in a sense self-employed.

She makes about 200-250 a month in cleaning services.

Am I required to issue her a 1099?

Yes if you pay her more than $600 per year.  If you are using Turbo Tax online Self employed version or the Desktop Home & Business program you can prepare it with Turbo Tax for free.  I can tell you how, depending on which version you have.
